The modern Gut Rittsteig riding facility in Passau is located between Munich and Vienna, in the south of Germany, and is one of two locations that Björn Nagel and his team use to train talented show jumpers and riders. The facility boasts the very best husbandry and training conditions, and a wonderful ambience, enabling focussed and varied training.

The outdoor space extends to more than 3200 square meters and is available almost all year round. Automatic watering and daily care routines ensure optimal soil conditions and a low-dust environment. The 900 square meter riding hall is just as inviting, and is equipped with automatic irrigation. The nearby forests offer our jumping horses and riders a popular alternative to dressage and jumping training. Our exercise programmes for our jumping horses are thoughtfully supplemented by sessions in the horse walker and lunging ring, as well as on the treadmill and by hand.

In total, the stables in Passau offer space for more than 30 horses. Our stallions have access to particularly spacious stallion boxes. A variety of professionally-landscaped paddocks and pastures offer our sport horses the opportunity to move freely in the fresh air, in addition to time spent training outdoors. The riding facility in Friedrichskoog is located just a few kilometres from the North Sea. With a 20 x 60m riding hall, an exercise hall and treadmill, as well as a modern outdoor area, this breeding and sports stable truly boasts optimal training and tournament conditions. In 2023, the riding facility was, for the first time, the venue for the reconceptualized Friedrichskoog Classics tournament series, offering a range of both dressage and jumping competitions up to S level.

Thanks to its location on the North Sea, with plenty of fresh air, marsh meadows and exercise opportunities, our well-maintained facility offers ideal conditions, especially for our broodmares, foals, weanlings and retirees, as well as young sport horses.

At this location we primarily focus on:

• Broodmare care including insemination and foaling, as well as year-round management
• Raising fillies and colts, e.g. including foal registration etc.
• Marketing of mares, foals and youngsters, e.g. also as part of our auctions
• Licensing preparation
• Retired horse accommodation

For generations, the riding facility in Friedrichskoog has served as a home for the Nagel family, as well as a breeding and training facility for show jumping horses.
